Locality pay varies by duty location. A fully trained CBP Officer is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary.

This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GS-5, GS-7, GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level. Promotions are at the discretion of the agency.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The is the advanced level within the professional Engineering Series, which may serve as the manager over a division such as Land Development or Capital Improvement Projects within the Public Works Engineering Division. This class is distinguished from the higher-level Principal Civil Engineer by the responsibility of the later class to serve as a division head over multiple functions. The Senior Engineer is further distinguished from the Associate Engineer by the responsibility for serving as a division manager, and for the management of multiple complex projects. Incumbents may supervise subordinates as assigned. The application of professional knowledge and skills is required in the performance of assigned duties, and the exercise of professional engineering judgment in accordance with currently accepted practice of civil engineering and appropriate laws and codes.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Meets and confers with contractors, engineers, developers, architects, a variety of outside agencies, and the general public in acquiring information and coordinating engineering matters; provides information regarding City development requirements.
Provides technical information and instruction regarding applicable procedures and methods; interprets and explains plans, specifications, rules, regulations, and procedures; answers questions and resolves concerns; troubleshoots complex operational and maintenance problems.
Conducts bidding process for capital projects including receiving applications, awarding contracts, issuing notices as assigned, and preparing staff reports for Council action.
