Job Description
The HV/MV Technician is directly responsible for the safe, productive, day-to-day onsite operations of Utility Scale Solar PV plants' substations and HV/MV equipment. From performing preventative maintenance and inspections, to troubleshooting and making repairs to maximize production, the Substation and HV/MV Technician gets to exercise a verity of skill-sets and has constant opportunities to learn more. All while making an impact on our safe, reliable, clean energy future.
This role will encompass performing the preventative and corrective maintenance on medium and high-voltage equipment, creating training and procedures for HV/MV equipment operation, and oversight of junior technicians and contractors during HV/MV maintenance.
Responsibilities
Uphold a high level of safety standards in everything that you do
Conducting routine preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of substations, HV, and MV equipment at solar photovoltaic facilities
Strong understanding of NEC code, electrical theory, NETA, and industry best practices
Develop and implement switching orders
Develop job aides and procedures on the high and medium voltage equipment and substations located at ACT's facilities
Support nationwide network of technicians through training, remote troubleshooting support, and routine travel for complex activities
Maintaining service reports, inspection documentation, safety paperwork, and spare parts inventory
Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards
Requirements
3+ year of experience in AC medium/high voltage systems, substation operations/switching, network communications and monitoring or equivalent
C10 electrical license
Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS and UPS systems
Experience reviewing, writing, and/or implementing switching orders or LOTOs for HV equipment and substations
Experience racking breakers, operating disconnects, and hanging grounds on HV/MV systems
Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as infrared cameras, transformer oil analysis, breaker and transformer testing
Experience working with a CMMS platform
Knowledge of NERC testing standards, NETA, and standard design/construction practices
Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams
Proficiency with MS Office suite
Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight
Valid Driver's License
Ability to pass personnel risk assessment and background check for NERC access
