The Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) systematically gains toxicology knowledge through APC's staged training and mentoring process. The environment is team oriented and supportive to set CVTs up for success in this fast paced and challenging position. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Case Management (90%)
Professionally manage medical cases initiated by telephone, email, and other electronic means from practicing veterinarians, animal owners, and others, involving animals that have potentially exposed to deleterious agents or diseases.
Obtain complete case histories and provide detailed and accurate diagnostic and treatment recommendations appropriate to the professional level of the caller and based on established APC protocols.
Enter (type-in) information into the electronic record efficiently and accurately as conveyed during communications with caller and consultations with APC DVMs.
Document exposures and risks, and relay detailed treatment recommendations per protocols and verbal instructions.
Create follow up actions to have records evaluated and closed by appropriate personnel.
Utilize ASPCA/APC resources to manage cases and access protocols, policies, and procedures.
Maintain excellence in customer service and high medical record quality levels. Respond to quality assessments provided by quality assurance and management staff. Meet case management quality, customer service, and volume metric goals as set for specific levels of tenure.
Consult the on-site experts, managers, and senior staff as needed for additional case-management information.
Complete follow up phone calls to pet owners and veterinary clinics as needed to obtain additional information regarding outcomes on specific cases.
Training, Professional Development, and Supporting Opportunities (up to 10 %)
Actively participate in on-site, off-site and virtual training, including attendance at monthly support staff rounds.
Assist in supportive activities which may include development of protocols for the medical library database, contributions to APC blog posts on toxicology related topics, participation in the staff mentorship program, and assistance with special projects as needed.

Additional Information
Staff will work daytime hours during their initial training and will be moved to later shifts incrementally, following the training schedule. Once training is complete, this position will begin as an evening or late evening shift, with shifts starting at 5p CT or later. Eligibility for earlier shifts is based on seniority. Shifts are subject to change at/in the sole discretion of the ASPCA.
This is a regional remote position. Candidate must reside within 350 miles of the ASPCA Midwest Office in Champaign, IL.
Up to 20% travel may be required, as this position requires occasional on-site training and support.

Compensation and Benefits
The applicable target hiring range for this remote role is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee's primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor. We have organized the U.S. varying costs of labor index into three geographic zones. As a point of reference, we've included our ASPCA locations by geographic zone to illustrate what the hiring range would be in each of the following areas.
Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. * Supports successful surgical outcomes by maintaining surgical flow, ensuring patient safety, properly handling surgical tools, and providing skilled, compassionate care.
* Obtains and prepares laboratory specimens for rabies testing; ensures that rabies specimens are handled, transported, and disposed of in accordance with all applicable procedures and protocols in order to protect public safety.

mobile Spay Station in Snohomish County. The current clinic schedule is Tuesday's or Fridays at various locations

LVTswill work under the direction of the Veterinarian to provide high-quality care for patients
before, during, and after surgery and will supervise the daily activities of the assigned Veterinary
Assistants and volunteers.Clinic shifts for LVTs are generally 8-10 hours per clinic day, depending on

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee admission of patients into the clinic, confirm medical history, and perform physical assessments prior to surgery.
Under supervision of the Veterinarian administer medications, anesthesia drugs, and prepare animals for surgery.
Monitor surgery patients from the induction of anesthesia until recovery; assess patient readiness for discharge and supervise patient discharges and communicate with clients regarding patient post-surgery care.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This position is a part of the Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Specialty Team (GAMHST) that is an initiative through the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services and is responsible for overseeing operations using the set of Division of MHDDSUS Program Requirements that specifically outline the work of this team.
The Geriatric Team Nurse is responsible for working collaboratively with the other members of the team in providing training, consultation, and technical assistance to recipients. Recipients are various community organizations (i.e., senior centers, faith-based organizations, law enforcement and other 1st responders, adult day, department of social services, homeless shelters, and senior meal programs), and staff of nursing homes, adult care homes, family care homes serving adults with mental illness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Participate as Member of Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Specialty Team:
Work independently and collaboratively to develop and teach evidence informed presentations about a variety of mental illnesses and how to manage difficult behaviors, as well as, how to navigate the behavioral health system to the above-mentioned agencies.
Provide education and linkage to services for caregivers of older adults who are providing care for individuals in the community.
Provide training to staff and volunteers on various topics relevant to older adult mental health (i.e., recognizing symptoms of mental illness, behavioral intervention, communication issues);
Aid in identifying ongoing training resources for staff and volunteers as needed.
Provide case consultation regarding behaviors that may result in the need for more intensive services including and up to hospitalization and facilitate access to those services.
Assist staff in assessing behaviors.
Provide input and support in the development of intervention (crisis) plans.
Model for staff and provide technical assistance with implementation of intervention plans.
Assist staff or caregivers with linkage to community providers/resources serving the geriatric population for the purpose of promoting aging in place and improvement of health (i.e., identification of long-term care facilities suited to specific needs).
Work collaboratively with other team members on a variety of clinical issues including diagnostic criteria and evidence-based treatment options for individuals with a wide variety of serious and persistent mental illnesses as well as geriatric specific considerations such as dementia and late life depression.
Provide marketing to agencies within scope of Program Requirements that are not receiving education or support through the team.
Participate in community workgroups to enhance the community's ability to provide services/care for older adults.
Document required elements on Division of MHDDSUS report, in Vaya electronic health record, and other internal processes (i.e., timesheet, travel sheet).
Documentation deadlines are specific to each of those above items. Accurate documentation is critical.
Participate in meetings with regional team, whole team, department, agency as requested/needed.
Attend individual supervision on a regular basis for ongoing employee support.

* Work with referring physicians to understand their preferences for communication about patients' test results, treatment progress and manage those communications
* Communicates with physicians as needed by phone, emails or in person for new patient referrals and scheduling priorities.
* Help eligible patient's access appropriate clinical trials
* Track individual patients' progress along care continuum; identify potential bottlenecks and perform appropriate interventions
* Work with oncology administrators to understand any changes in reporting metrics.
* Identify bottlenecks in the patient pathway and gaps in care; propose process improvement measures to address them
* Communicates with other staff to coordinate patient care activities.
* Participate with other members of the healthcare team to provide patients with supportive care services.
* Refers patients to local and national community support groups/services
Coordination of Educational Activities:
* Identify and document individual patient's barriers to learning
* Educate patients and families about disease process, treatment options, potential side effects
* Assist patients with treatment decision making; develop and use decision aids as appropriate
* Provide pre and post-operative education to all groups
* Educate patients about survivorship, set expectations for the post-treatment transition, remain available to patients and families for questions during the continuum of treatment and at survivorship.
* Assist with identification of survivors and delivery of the survivorship care plan.
* Advocate for patient and support with end-of-life/palliative care decisions
* Educate patients and families about diet, exercise, smoking cessation and other wellness and cancer prevention strategies
Psychosocial Support
* Administer psychosocial screening at patients' at time of intake; repeat screening at regular intervals or as needed
* Make referrals to social worker, financial counselor, or support services as needed; facilitate scheduling and monitor patients to ensure follow-though
* Check in with patients via phone on day prior to surgery and/or treatment start; ensure patients know exactly what to expect before, during and after procedure
* Facilitates shared decision making with the patients, caregivers, families, and care team.
* Supports a smooth transition of patients from active treatment into survivorship, chronic cancer management, and end-of life care.
* Promotes advances care planning by assisting patients in formulating a discussion with their care team.
Multidisciplinary Clinical Support
* Help determine which patients are eligible for clinical trial participation.
* Facilitate new patient referrals into the clinical trials program.
* Attend Tumor Board Conference and be available for coordination of care recommended post conference.
* Maintain communication with the tumor registry when needed.
* Actively solicit and record feedback from referring physicians and their staff; develop recommendations for improving clinical operations to better meet their needs
* Meet with physicians who have the potential to become referral sources for the cancer program to provide information about the cancer center and its related programs.
* Track new patients throughout the care continuum through the EPIC and ensure key follow-up time points are met.
* Ensures documentation of patient encounter and provided services.
* Collaborate with marketing and communications departments in events as needed.
* Assist in developing patient education materials.
* Develop collaborative relationships with local individuals, agencies and organizations that provide cancer education and support for cancer patients
* Collaborate with community outreach programs designed to increase public awareness of cancer, cancer prevention and the importance or regular screening
Leadership Responsibilities:
* Must be able to perform job duties as an independent professional and as a team player; organizational skills sufficient to set own priorities and facilitate work team progress.
* Contributes to the nurse navigator program and role development, implementation, and evaluation within the healthcare system and community.
* Orients new staff to their group and is cross trained to other groups
* Attends staff meetings and other meetings as needed
* Ensure compliance with mandatory in-services and employee health procedures.
* Actively supports and participates in performance improvement activities
* Ensures compliance with all facility policies and procedures and all HIPPA, ACHA, JCAHO, OSHA standards and regulations

Graduate from an Accredited School of Nursing, BSN required
Certification and Licensing:
